The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson

girl_with_dragon_tattoo_227x226From AudioFile Magazine:
Two complex stories are woven seamlessly together—first, the mysterious disappearance 20 years ago of the daughter of one of Sweden’s wealthiest families, and second, a tale of financial corruption and libel. Mikael Blomkvist, investigative journalist, and Lisbeth Salander, a genius hacker with a past, are the two central characters, with many more playing important parts. Simon Vance is outstanding, as is his narration. His voices are so natural and fit so well with their characters that the listener is completely transported into the story. Despite an unhurried tempo, the book never bogs down as the plot is untangled thread by thread. This production exemplifies an extraordinary match between book and narrator. S.S.R. About Simon

Simon is an actor who found his way into audiobook narrating as a side-gig and seems to have made a success of it. With some training as an actor as a child (just a couple of hours a week, but it stuck) and 15 years working inside the BBC (ending up as one of the presenters/newsreaders on BBC Radio 4 in London) he found the ideal combination for an audiobook narrator. Found his way to California two decades ago and never left.

I have read some of the original, seen the Swedish films twice (all three) as well as the full Swedish TV series–and of course the American film version, and listened to your reading of all three (again, twice). Of all these, your reading is absolutely the best! Thank you.

Thank you so much for letting me know – it’s always good to know the work is appreciated (though I really should reply more promptly – sorry!) – S.
